When you are sitting in your office, and wondering if you are going to pay an artist to create the artwork for your next marketing campaign, or you are going to design it yourself what are the various things that you should take into consideration?

One of the major thing that are needed to keep in mind is that when you create your artwork in word, what is the final printed product going to look like? Is it going to be high quality enough, or is your targeted market going to look at your new marketing materials and wonder why you even bothered to mail it to them? It is important to remember, yes you can import images into word, but they are not going to be high quality images, so when they are printed on to paper, they may be blurry, or the colour may be off not giving off the original image you were trying to convey.

The next thing to keep in mind when you decide to do your own artwork, is are you good at design? I am a printer, and I know 100% that artwork is NOT my skill. Whenever I am doing my own advertising campaign I pay an artist to design my work for me because I know that if potential customers see work that I have designed they will wonder what my work would be like for them. Because although the print may be quality, the artwork would most definitely look like crap.

So the next time you are trying to decide how to do your own artwork, ask yourself these questions and find out the best way to expand your customer base with a beautiful marketing campaign.
